The Reason to Choose Isometrics Exercise

There is a form of exercise that is called Isometrics. This is a form of resistance training for developing an athlete’s speed. Traditional muscle training provides increases in strength, tone, mass and endurance, but does little for development of speed.

There is a vast difference between isometric training and weight training. The first big reason is what you wish to accomplish with your training. Strength and endurance are the usual goals of weight training and leave you feeling tired and sluggish after the training period.

Isometric training is training your muscles to develop quicker speed. It should not leave with you feeling tired. Basically, most training programs only develop strength and endurance. This has little to do with increasing an athlete’s speed where as isometric training focuses on developing the muscles connected to an athlete’s speed.

Isometric training isolates those muscles to strengthen them and get a fast on call response. Isometric training precisely isolates all of the muscle groups within a specific athletic skill to provide the speed they need.

Isometric resistance training has the person using their muscles to push against an immovable object such as wall. This is done in order to hold the muscle in a fixed position for a set period of time to specifically train a certain muscle fiber.

The muscles in the human body have two different types of fiber. This is the reason that an athlete needs two different types of muscle training. Traditional weight training builds the muscle fibers that give increases in strength and endurance while isometrics trains the second muscle type for an increase in speed.

Athletes that want increased muscle mass, tone and endurance along with increases in speed, need to conduct the two different types of training. Isometric training is a must for athletes that need increase in muscle strength and speed.
