Isometrics

Isometric exercising is a great way to get good, sound exercise without having to purchase a lot of equipment or go to a physical fitness center to work out. Basically put, an isometrics exercise is where there is no movement, but the muscles are working. For instance, if you hold a five pound weight in your hand with your elbow at a ninety degree angle and hold it there for five seconds, you have done an isometric exercise. Or if you press the palms of your hands together and hold if for five seconds, you have done an isometric exercise. Isometrics is when one muscle or muscle group is pitted against another muscle or an immovable object, such as a wall or door frame.

The beauty of isometric exercising is that just about anybody can do them and get noticeable results in a matter of weeks. It is recommended that people who have high blood pressure should stay away from doing isometrics. Isometric exercising is a big hit with not only body builders and those of the younger generation who are trying to get into shape, but also with senior citizens. The simplicity of the exercises is very appealing to most people. Just a few minutes a day will help you feel better and start toning you up.

Isometrics is one kind of exercise that people tend to stay with once they get going on it. That is one of the main reasons isometric exercising is so beneficial, people continue doing them on a regular basis for years. When you find something that suits you and can become a part of your everyday lifestyle, your overall well-being is affected in a very positive way.
