The Difference Of Isometrics

Isometric training is a type of strength training in which the joint angle and muscle length do not change during contraction. Isometric exercise promotes stronger muscles, physical endurance, higher performance and healthier posture. Isometric exercises can be done to rehabilitate injuries from sports and other injuries. You can do these exercises without any equipment. It is capable of muscular development in a very short period of time. Hold your body in a static neutral alignment and the gravity will create muscular tension. It is an effective technique for strengthening muscles and aiding injury recovery, and helps to prevent future sports injuries. These exercises can be done on a daily basis anywhere and anytime without any equipment. It can help you feel change in your strength and body awareness.

If you compare isometrics to weight training, the latter strengthens the muscle throughout the range of motion and the joint is trained in, causing an increase in physical strength from the initiating through to terminating joint angle. Weight training exercises do require a certain kind of equipment to exercise and cannot be done anywhere or everywhere. Either you need to have the equipment at home or you would have to go to the gym to exercise and do weight training.

The biggest limitation of isometric exercise is that isometrics provides strength training, but it does not involve the contraction of the muscles. Therefore, it's impractical to make isometrics your primary form of strength training as you’d need to do many exercises, each at a different joint angle, in order to strengthen a muscle at all points in its full range of motion. Whereas, in other form of exercises, such as weight training, you can go to a gym where there are also different forms of equipment, which can help you to strengthen different parts of your body.
